Degree Requirements

Master's Program with Thesis

For graduation from this track:

  1. At least 8 courses (MATH 503 Uncertainty and Decision Making in Civil Engineering, CE 571 Sustainable Construction, and CE 594 Research Methods and Academic Publication Ethics are mandatory, the rest are elective) totaling not less than 24 credits, and excluding pre-thesis seminar and thesis  work;
  2. Pre-Thesis Seminar (CE 591), Master’s Thesis I (CE 592), and Master’s Thesis II (CE 593) courses;
  3. At least 122.5 ECTS credits must be successfully completed.

Pre-Thesis Seminar (CE 591), Master’s Thesis I (CE 592), and Master’s Thesis II (CE 593) courses are evaluated as Pass or Fail (P / F). Students must register for Pre-Thesis Seminar (CE 591) before starting their thesis work, enroll in Master’s Thesis I (CE 592) during the semester thesis work commences, and deliver a written and oral defense at the end of the semester in which Master’s Thesis II (CE 593) is taken.

The duration to complete the master's program with thesis is four semesters, and at most six semesters, regardless of whether or not the student has registered for courses each semester, and starting from the semester of their enrollment excluding time spent in scientific preparation.

Master's Program without Thesis

For graduation from this track:

  1. At least 10 courses (MATH 503 Uncertainty and Decision Making in Civil Engineering, CE 571 Sustainable Construction and CE 594 Research Methods and Academic Publication Ethics are required, the rest are elective) totaling not less than 30 credits, and excluding Graduation Project (CE 590);
  2. The Graduation Project course (CE 590);
  3. At least 90 ECTS credits must be successfully completed.

The Graduation Project (CE 590) course is evaluated as Pass or Fail (P / F). The student must deliver a written and oral defense of the project at the end of the semester in which the Graduation Project (CE 590) course is taken.
